ELMER ELLIS SNIDER, age 88, of Nashville, TN, and formerly of Macon County passed away on October 30, 2009.
ELMER ELLIS SNIDER, age 88, of Nashville, TN, and formerly of Macon County passed away on October 30, 2009. Funeral services for Elmer Ellis Snider were conducted Monday, November 1, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. from the West Harpeth Funeral Home. On Tuesday, visitation continued at the Alexander Funeral Home from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. with graveside service for Elmer and his wife Roni’s cremains at the New Bethel Cemetery; interment followed.
He was a native of Macon County, the son of the late Jesse and Bertie Parker Snider. He was married to Roni Snider, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Willard Snider, and a sister, Betty Lou Snider Hamsley.
Elmer had made West Nashville his home for 54 years. After his dedicated service in the United States Army, World War II, Philippines, he went to work at Aladdin Industries were he remained for 38 years. After retirement, he spent his time metal detecting, camping with Roni, and the camping club. He was very active as a life long member of the VFW Post 1970. He was also very active in the Boy Scouts of America and a recipient of the Long Rifle Award and several other related awards. He was a great public servant and spent his life helping others in need through his church, Calvary Baptist, and many other organizations including the Veterans hospital, Nashville location.
Elmer will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by; Children, James and (Lisa) Snider, LouAn Tillman, Kevin (Denise) Snider and Karli Carroll, sister, Georgia Mae (W.M.) Sanders, grandchildren, Tiffanie (Jeff) Hand, James (Marisa) Snider, Sabrina (Gary) Clarkes, Nick Snider, Heather (Nick) Snider, Jessica (Brad) Snider, Kevin “Bubba” Snider, and Ellis Carroll, great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Bailey, and Kenzie Hand, Emma Ragan, and Clayden Clarke.
