MARY LOUISE SMITH JONES, age 80, of the Wixtown Community in Macon County, TN, passed away on October 30, 2009 at the Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin, TN, after a long hard battle with cancer.
MARY LOUISE SMITH JONES, age 80, of the Wixtown Community in Macon County, TN, passed away on October 30, 2009 at the Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin, TN, after a long hard battle with cancer. Funeral services for Mary Louise Smith Jones were conducted Tuesday, November 3, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Jerry Mercer officiating. Roger Jones, Derrick Jones, Jared Jones, Lloyd Graves, Jason Jones, T.J. Jones, Russell Duffer, and Ryan Jones served as pallbearers. Interment followed in the Shrum Cemetery.
Mary Louise Smith Jones was born May 19, 1929 in Glasgow KY to the late George Euin Jefferson and Della Florence Likens Smith. Besides her parents, Mary was preceded in death by: Husband, Carlean Jones, Son, Freddie Jones, Infant daughter, Judy Fay Jones, and Brother, Jerry Wayne Smith.
She was a resident of the Wixtown Community for over sixty years. Mary was a homemaker and was married to Carlean Jones for fifty-three years until his death on October 13, 1999. She was a loving mother to ten children, twenty-five grandchildren, thirty-four great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Mary is survived by daughters: Gertie (Thomas) Christian of Lafayette TN, Kathy (Ralph) Duffer of the Wixtown Community, and Janet (Larry) Sebert of Franklin KY. Sons: Lonnie Jones of Coleen TX, Carl “Hix” (Judy) Jones of the Siloam Community, Raymond (Wilma) Jones of Lafayette TN, Hubert (Tammy) Jones of the Wixtown Community and Phillip (Susan) Hardcastle of Lafayette TN. Sisters: Lynn (Johnny) Hoskins of the Green Valley Community, Virginia (Carlean) Wix of Caneyville KY, Thelma (Bobby) Gross of Glasgow KY and Marie Likens Slayton of Glasgow KY. Brothers: Junior (Roma) Smith of Indianapolis IN, Thomas (Lula Mae) Smith of Greenbrier TN, Jackie Smith of the Wixtown Community.
