JOHN WILLIAM DAVIS, age 74, of the Oakdale Community in Macon County, TN, passed away Friday, November 13 at Macon County General Hospital.
JOHN WILLIAM DAVIS, age 74, of the Oakdale Community in Macon County, TN, passed away Friday, November 13 at Macon County General Hospital. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, November 17th, at 11 a.m., from chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Terry Austin officiating. Roger Carmichael, Ryan Carmichael, Carlos “Rick” Mays, Brian Mays, Scott Mays, Chris Davis, and Chris Lawson served as pallbearers. Interment followed in the Cold Springs Cemetery.
He was born on January 11, 1935 in Carter County, KY, to his parents; the late Russell and Goldie Parker Davis.
John worked as first mate on a boat for Ohio River Company & Midland Enterprise for thirty-two years, before retiring in 1997. He was in the Fraternal Order of Eagles. John enjoyed being outdoors, where he could do the sports he loved most; hunting and fishing. He was tender hearted when it came to animals, taking in strays that had no where else to go. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who cherished his time with his family. John will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by; wife, Mary Ellen Davis of the Oak Dale Community in Macon County, TN, children, Rocky Davis of Columbus, OH, Veltina Davis of Portsmouth, OH, Bryan and Ryan Davis of West Portsmouth, OH, Rogenda and Ronald Hewitt of Westmoreland, TN, Roger and Lisa Carmichael of Wheelersburg, OH, Ryan and Treasa Carmichael of Lafayette, TN, brother, Russell and Libby Davis, sister, Ora and John Lytten all of New Boston, OH, and several nieces and nephews, also survive.
