Mr. John Wayne Gilbert, age 61, of Lafayette (formerly of Michigan) died, Sunday, December 6, 2009 at Sumner Regional Medical Center after a long illness.

Mr. John Wayne Gilbert, age 61, of Lafayette (formerly of Michigan) died, Sunday, December 6, 2009 at Sumner Regional Medical Center after a long illness. There was a private bedside funeral service at the hospital where Mr. Gilbert passed away. 

He is survived by his wife, Korine Kay Barber Gilbert of Lafayette, beloved son, John P. (wife, Ashley Diane Shaw) Gilbert of Mayfield Heights, Ohio (formerly of Michigan), and beloved daughters, Lynn Marie Lawitzke of Croswell, Michigan and Kristina Adkins of Waterford, Michigan, and cousin, Roger Winstead of Westmoreland.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Phillip and Jeweldine Pilgrim Gilbert and his sister, Bonnie Leenknegt.
