Ed Walton, Jr., 86

Ed Walton, Jr., age 86 of Lafayette, TN, died on Feb. 2, 2010 at Sumner Regional Medical Center. Funeral services for Ed Walton, Jr. were conducted Sat., from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Dean Dyer officiating. Paul Blankenship, J.T. Doss, Ferrell Meador, and Earl Pitchford served as honorary pallbearers.

Fred Cartwright, Kevin Dorris, Nathan Gregory, Jacob Walton, Neil Walton, Steve Blick, and David Gregory served as active pallbearers.  Interment followed in the Macon County Memorial Gardens. He was born on Sept. 6, 1923 in Macon County, TN., to his parents; the late Edward Samuel Walton, Sr. and Nannie Elizabeth Goad Walton. Ed married the former Dorothy Mae Holland in April 1965, sharing almost forty years together and raising one son William Walton, Jr.; Dorothy preceded Ed in death on March 26, 2005. Besides his wife and parents; brothers, Roy Walton, Leonard Walton, Cordell Walton, and Willard Walton, sisters, Alma Meador, Ethel Meador, and Rulene Latimer, also preceded him in death. Ed opened Walton’s Carpet business in Lafayette, some forty years ago, serving several homes in the surrounding counties. When his son grew up, he began helping in the business and continue on with his father until they closed the business.  Ed enjoyed socializing and talking with his customers and friends that came by.  He was a dedicated husband and father, who loved his family unconditionally.  Ed will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by; son and daughter-in-law, William E. and Kim Walton of Lafayette, TN, sister, Bonnie Crowder, nieces, Rita (Ferrell) Meador and Thelma Hooper, all of Lafayette, TN, several other nieces, nephews, and cousins, also survive.
