Jimmy Ramsey, 73

Jimmy Ramsey, age 73, of the Russell Hill Community died on February 11, shortly after being admitted to Macon County General Hospital from the Knollwood Health Care Center where he had been convalescing for two weeks. Funeral services from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home were conducted on February 14 by his grandson, Pastor Adam Summers and by Eld. Charles Jones, with internment in the Davis Cemetery at Russell Hill.

One of three sons of the late George Delton Ramsey and Pauline Demaris Jenkins Ramsey, he was born James Howard Ramsey on March 13, 1936 in the Russell Hill Community of Macon County. On June 2, 1956 in Barkley, New York, he united in marriage to the former Mary Lou Shorten, a Barclay native. Mr. Ramsey was a retired farmer of the Russell Hill Community and was of the Baptist faith. He was a 1955 graduate of Macon County High School. Surviving are two daughters, Paula Porter and husband Keith of Russell Hill, Nan Summers and husband Mark of Waycross, Georgia; son, Greg Ramsey and wife Shirley of Seattle Washington; two brothers, Tom Ramsey and wife Marlene of Papillion, Nebraska, Bill Ramsey and wife Chris of Apex, North Carolina; twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
