Orene Shockley Turner, 77

Orene Shockley Turner, age 77 a resident of Monroe Health and Rehab in Tompkinsville, KY passed away Wednesday evening, February 10, 2010 at the Monroe County Medical Center in Tompkinsville, KY.  Funeral Services for Orene Shockley Turner were conducted on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. from the Hughes Funeral Chapel in Fountain Run, KY with Brother Terry Hagan officiating.  Interment followed in the Akersville Cemetery. Family and friends served as Pallbearers.

Orene was born on February 29, 1932 in Allen County, KY, one of eight children born to the late William Henry and Myrtle Lois (Driver) Shockley.  Other than her parents, her daughter, Carol Lawrence, brothers, Cleon and Kenneth Shockley, infant sisters, Barbara Ann, Cora Helen & Roma Dean and six grandchildren preceded her in death. She married Floyd Turner February 11, 1952 who survives and lives in Scottsville with his son. She passed one day short of her 58th wedding anniversary.
She was a retired Garment Factory worker, loved to farm, fish and hunt and was a member of the Akersville Missionary Baptist Church.  Other than her husband of 57 years she is survived by, sons and daughter-in-law, Jimmy (Charlotte) Turner of Glasgow, KY, Troy Turner of Scottsville, KY, daughters, Janie Turner of Tompkinsville, KY, Kim Turner and companion (Owen Boards) of Scottsville, KY, Susan Jenkins of Glasgow, KY, brother, Don Shockley of Fountain Run, KY, sister, Virginia Creek of the Enon Community in Macon County, TN,  12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
