Funeral services for Bill Duffer were conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Tim Smith and Jack Honeycutt officiating. Customers and friends of Macon Rental and Cody Miller served as honorary pallbearers. Todd Bohanan, FD Fuqua, Josh Smith, Vic Donahoe, Barry Newberry, Emmit Sexton, Laron Smart, Scotty Key, Charlie Thompson, and Chris Sullivan served as active pallbearers. Interment followed in the Duffer Cemetery.

He was born in Macon County, Tennessee on December 17, 1945 to the late John Henry and MaryAnn Elizabeth Ball Duffer. Besides his parents; one brother, Jack Duffer, also preceded him in death. As a young man Bill was married and had five children. He was the owner of D & R Form Contractors for twenty-seven years and he also owned & operated Macon Rental here in Lafayette where he remained for the last twenty-two years. Bill was an honest hard working man that treated everyone the way that he wanted to be treated. He enjoyed meeting people and talking with his customers. Bill loved rolling dice, coin flipping, listening to music and going to the Country Junction with friends and family. Bill enjoyed being outdoors on his farm and working with his cattle. He was of the Baptist Belief. Bill is survived by; son, Brent Duffer of Red Boiling Springs, TN, daughters, Annie and husband Jeff Carter of Lafayette, TN, Kay Dyer and Mike Ford of Tompkinsville, KY, April and husband Brett Zachary of Scottsville, KY, and Hope and husband Barry Gregory of Hartsville, TN, grandchildren, Travis, Dusty, & Wesley Carter of Lafayette, TN, Kaleb, Kyle, & Kameron Dyer of Lafayette, TN, and Lindsi, Hannah, Jake, & Cole Gregory of Hartsville, TN, sisters, Patty Davis, Darlene Stofer, Bonnie Shetfield, Mary Ashmore, and Janie Smart, brothers, Bo Sanders and Jessie Sanders, also survive. Bill will be missed by all of his family, friends, and neighbors who dearly loved him.
