Mrs. Evans was born in Beckley, West Virginia on Nov. 1, 1956, the daughter of the late Jim Giffith and Julia Griffith who survives her of Waxhaw, NC. She was a member of Dripping Springs Baptist and Celina 1st Baptist Church. She was employed as an Music teacher in the Clay County school system.

She was a 1974 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and a 1995 Graduate of Concord College. She was a teacher in the Raleigh County educational system and was currently teaching in Clay County, Tennessee.   While living in Beckley, West Virgina she attended the Christian Chapel Church and was the choir director. She also taught piano and enjoyed singing. She was survived by her husband Mark  Evans of Celina, TN.; 2 daughters: Alesa Van Snuffer of Lutz, FL. and Kaitlyn Snuffer of Celina, TN.; 1 son: Patrick Snuffer of Beckley, WV.; Mother:  Julia Griffith of Waxhaw, NC. Mary  is also survived by a sister, Lesa (Craig) Mueller of Waxhaw, NC and a brother, James (Cynthia) Griffith of Beckley, WV. She is also survived by Many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews also survive. Funeral Service at Clay County High School in Celina, TN, at 4 PM on Thursday, March 4th,  with Mark Hall officiating.  Special Singing by the student choir. Burial in the Sunset Cemetery in Beckley, West Virginia. Interment at Sunset Cemetery in Beckley, WV.
