Funeral services were conducted by her longtime Pastor, Eld. Floyd Ferguson on Mon., March 22 from the Hackett Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Smith Family Cemetery.

Born Georgie Maizell Green in the Difficult Community on July 1, 1918, she was one of four children to the late Robert Allen and Florence Kemp Green. Two brothers preceded her in death, Cecil Allen Green who died June 25, 2006 at the age of 85 and Ralph C. Green who died Nov. 18, 2007 at the age of 82. Mrs. Smith was the widow of the late Henry Ford Smith who died Feb. 11, 1999 at the age of 81 after sixty years of marriage. They were married Feb. 9, 1936. She and her husband operated school buses for the Jackson County School System for over twenty-one years. She was a former teacher’s aid and substitute teacher in the Jackson County School System having assisted mostly at Jackson County High School. As long as health permitted Mrs. Smith was active in community affairs and had a special love for the Gladdice Community Center of which her husband was serving as President at the time of his death. Surviving is her daughter, Nancy Smith of Gainesboro; son Tim Smith of Joelton; sister Ruth Dillehay and husband Leman of Gallatin; grandchildren, Sam and Shelley Smith. The Smith family requests memorials to the Smith Family Cemetery.
