WEST, age 73 of Indianapolis, and formerly of Lafayette, Tennessee, passed away peacefully April 29, 2010 in Indianapolis. Funeral services for Douglas R. West were conducted Tuesday, May 3, 2010 at 1 p.m. from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Larry Cole officiating. Roger West, Larry Cole, Joe Bransford, John Hale, Ray Roberts, and Jim Dulin served as pallbearers. Interment followed in the Anderson & Son Memorial Park.
He was born in Macon County, Tennessee on May 4, 1936 to the late Grover Cleveland and Cora Bell West. Besides his parents; siblings, Parnell Green, Idell Bray, Corzell West, Carlos West, G.C. West, Jr., and Paul West, also preceded him in death.

Douglas married the love of his life Bobbie Jean Roberts West on June 25, 1955, sharing fifty-four wonderful years together.
Douglas retired in 1993 from Carrier Corporation after forty years of service. He was a member of United Steel Workers. Douglas loved his cars, he always tried to keep a newer model automobile. In his young life he enjoyed drag racing and watching Nascar races on television. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and all who knew him.
He is survived by; wife of fifty-four years, Bobbie Jean Roberts West, nieces and nephews, Denise Byers, Michael West, Cora Dulin, Barbara Smith, Cle Brown, Roger and wife Annette West, Gene and husband Larry Cole, Dorothy and husband James Deering, Ann and husband Randel Dozier, Dorris and wife Janice Bray, and
Selvaline and husband Joe Bransford, sisters-in-law, Charlotte and husband John Hale, Hester West, and Barbara J. West; also survive.
