Funeral services for Eura Ann Meador were conducted Friday, May 28, 2010 at 10 a.m. from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Wayne Meador and Greg Watson officiating. Wayne Meador, Greg Watson, Dennis Purcell, Nathan Purcell, Jamey Allen, and Misty Allen served as pallbearers. Interment followed in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Portland, TN.

She was born in Macon County, Tennessee on June 6, 1904 to the late Jasper Clarence and Martha Ellen Morrison Simmons.
In 1919 at the age of fifteen, Eura was married to the love of her life Dennis Emmit Meador, sharing almost fifty-five years together and raising three children; Dennis preceded her in death on May 19, 1974.
As a young couple they lived on his parent’s farm and being a farmer’s wife, she worked on the farm; milking cows, raising tobacco and strawberries, and helping with the cattle. Eura and her husband moved their family to Franklin, Kentucky, where they made their home and lived until Dennis passed away.
Later in life, she moved to Golden Oaks and lived there several years celebrating her 100th birthday there. Eura was a homemaker and farmer’s wife, but most of all a very loving and devoted mother. She enjoyed sewing; making over 100 quilts and doilies that she shared with her family and friends. She was baptized at Drake’s Creek, in Tennessee several years ago and attended Portland Church of Christ and Draper’s Crossroads Church of Christ.
She will be greatly missed by her loving family and all who knew her.
Eura is survived by; son, Wayne and wife Faye Meador of Hermitage Springs Community, grandchildren, Mona and husband Casey Wiley of Lubbock, TX,
Greg and Kathleen Watson of Ridgecrest, CA, Raun Watson of Lansing, Kansas, Ricky and wife Linda Meador of Columbia, IN, Sherry Meador of Indiana, and Melanie and husband Dennis Purcell of the Hermitage Springs Community, eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; also survive.
