WILLIAM SHRUM, 74

MR. WILLIAM SHRUM, better known as “CHUM SHRUM”-age 74 of Lafayette, TN passed away early on Sunday Morning, September 26, 2010 at the Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin. Funeral Services for Mr. Chum Shrum were conducted on Tuesday September 28 , 2010 at 1:00 pm from the chapel of the Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Guthrie Thompson officiating.

Clifton Shrum, John Shrum, Ott Gregory, Ed Coggins, Taylor Fisher, and Leon Fuqua served as Honorary Pallbearers. Gary Brawner, Larry Brawner, Walter Ramsey, Josh O’Hair, Scottie Sadler, and Brad Marsh served as Active Pallbearers. Interment followed in the Dixon Springs Cemetery in Smith County, TN.
He was born in the Old Bottom Community of Macon County, TN on January 5, 1936 to the late Haskel and Inez Gregory Shrum.   
Chum married Wilda Claiborne Shrum on March 24, 1967 sharing forty-three years together and raising three children.
He was a longtime farmer of the Old Bottom Community, farming mostly tobacco, corn, and livestock.  
In October 1947, he was saved and baptized into the fellowship of Old Beech Bottom Missionary Baptist Church.
Chum had a great love for his wife, children and grandchildren, leaving great memories behind for them to cherish. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Chum is survived by: wife, Wilda Shrum, daughters, Roxanne (Todd) O’Hair, and
Vicki (Jason) Cothron, son, Andy (Whitney) Shrum, grandchildren, Josh O’hair, Chelsea O’Hair, Cody Cothron, Megan Cothron, Dawson Shrum, and Paige Shrum, all of Lafayette, TN.
