Jerry was born Friday, December 2, 1949 in Clay County, Tennessee, one of five boys born to the late Terril and Myrlene Cherry Craighead.  On January 25, 1976, he married the former Susie Reece, who survives.  He was a member of the Walton Chapel Church of Christ and was a veteran of the United States Army where he received the National Defense Service Medal and the M-16 Sharpshooter Medal.
Survivors besides his wife, Susie of 34 years include:  son, J.J. Craighead, Lafayette, brothers & sisters-in-law, James & Juanell Craighead, Antioch, Eddie & Olene Craighead, Red Boiling Springs, Kenneth & Winnie Craighead, Gainesboro, Gary & Cherie Craighead, Cookeville, Mother-in-law, Adean Reece, Red Boiling Springs, sisters-in-law, Jeanie Reece, Pueblo, CO, Shelia Reed, Gallatin, host of nieces & nephews.
