Mrs. Hesson was 83. Friday afternoon February 11th funeral services were conducted from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home by her pastor Eld. Van Mathis and her former pastor, Eld. James Crawford.

Following the 1 p.m. services burial was in the Smith County Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Hesson was born in Glasgow in Barren County Kentucky on February 17, 1927 and was one of 13 children of the late Lucian and Mary Florence Stevens Sexton. Siblings preceding her in death were Inez, Eugene, Ethel, Girture Sexton, Lorene Bowman, Carl, Junior, Roger and Billy Sexton. Before retiring and moving to Carthage she and he husband made their home on their Turkey Creek Community farm. Her husband Julious “Bud” Hesson died December 18, 1998 at the age of 87. In 1960 the East Carthage Missionary Church was established in Eastland Heights and Mrs. Hesson was a charter member. She retired in 1988 from the Carthage Shirt Corporation where she was a seamstress for over 28 years. Surviving is her foster grand-daughter Kandi Ray and husband Shayne and their children Gracie, Mattie and Ellie Ray; Mrs. Hesson’s caregiver, Debbie Taylor and husband Wayne of Carthage; sister, Shirley Russell and husband Comer of Lebanon; brother, Veachel Sexton of Lafayette.
