Funeral services from the Hackett Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home were conducted Friday afternoon April 1st at 1 p.m. by Bro. Joel Johnson. Burial followed in the Hackett Cemetery at Kempville.

She was one of eight children, seven girls and one boy, of the late James Riddle and Callie Donia Butler Sircy and was born Victoria Athylene Sircy in Kempville on February 20, 1921. Siblings preceding her in death was one brother, Ethel Gray “Boat” Sircy and six sisters, Vera Ford, Bethel Hudson, her twin, Claudine Brooks, Alma Thompson, Lela Zeptella and Lillie West. On July 22, 1938 she was united in marriage to Defeated Creek Community native Lyman Brooks Lankford. He preceded her in death on March 11, 2005 at the age of 85 after almost 67 years of marriage. Mrs. Lankford retired in 1983 from the Sumner County Board of Education where she was employed for over fifteen years as a dietician. She was a member of the Liberty United Methodist Church in Gallatin. Mrs. Lankford attended the Kempville Grade School where she was an outstanding basketball player and then was a member of the 1939 class of Carthage High School. Surviving are her five children, Kay Satterfield and husband Larry of Hendersonville, LaDon Lankford of Gallatin, Elaine Morrow and husband David of Hendersonville, Sherry Hall and husband Wayne of Dickson, Kathy Gwaltney and husband Stan of Gallatin; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
