Lois May Bandy Walrond, age
97, of Burlington, North Carolina and formerly of Lafayette, passed away on
Sunday afternoon, August 7, 2011 at Twin Lakes Nursing Home in Burlington,
North Carolina. A Graveside Service for Lois Walrond was conducted on Saturday,
August 13, 2011 at 10 a.m. from the Macon County Memorial Gardens with Elder J.
B. Shoulders officiating. Interment followed.
Lois was born on August 27,
1913 in Lafayette, TN, to the late Stanley Wade and Emma M. Cliburn Bandy. Lois
and her family moved to Indiana when she was 6 years old. She grew up
going to school in Indianapolis, Indiana before moving back home to Macon County
where she graduated from Macon County High School. She was married to the love
of her life, Bruce Gordon Walrond, in March of 1934 sharing 44 wonderful years
together and raising 3 children. Bruce preceded her in death in 1978.
Besides her husband and parents; one son, Kenneth Gordon Walrond, a
sister, Lillian Bandy Johnson, and a Granddaughter, Laura Kay Foley also
preceded her in death. Lois worked over the years in retail sales, but being a
housewife and mother was the most important to her. She enjoyed cooking big
meals for her family and sewing filled her spare time. She also loved
socializing with friends and making new ones. She was a special mother,
grandmother, and friend who loved her family and God. She was a member of a
Baptist Church where she faithfully attended until her health began to fail
her. Lois will be dearly missed by her family and friends who loved her so very
much. Mrs. Lois Walrond is survived by; Son and Daughter in Law, Richard Earl
and Elizabeth Walrond of Greensboro, NC, Daughter and Son in Law, Evelyn Lois
and Cor Snoeren of Sarasota, FL, Grandchildren, Blake Scott Walrond and
Christopher Wade Walrond both of Greensboro, NC, Kelley Anita Walrond of
Denver, CO, Wade Kenneth Walrond of Venice, Italy, James Patrick Foley of
Leesburg, VA, 9 Great-Grandchildren also survive. She is survived locally by
Nephew, Stanley Johnson, and Niece, Sue Van Blaricum both of Lafayette, as well
as Niece, Dixie Caldwell of IN. Alexander Funeral Home, Directors, in charge of
arrangements.
