Richard “Dick”
Walker, age 69 of Castalian Springs, passed away September 16, 2011. His
proudest accomplishment was his involvement in the Peace Corps, where he served
as a volunteer in El Salvador and as a director in Brazil.

He was a graduate of
Randolph-Macon College and received his MBA from Vanderbilt University.
 He began his professional career with the State of Tennessee in the
Office of Economic Development. Dick later served as Assistance Commissioner in
this department, where he worked developing the Three Star Community Award
program. He eventually started a consultant business, Walker Associates, and
was hired as director of the Four Lakes Regional Development Authority, where
he worked until his retirement in 2008. He is survived by his parents, William
D. Walker and Mary Frances Helsley Walker of Springfield, VA, sons, Kevin
Walker of Norris, TN, Craig (Dawn) Walker of Nashville, TN, granddaughter,
Savannah Walker, ex-wives, but still friends, Mary Tom Walker of Castalian
Springs, TN and Helen W. Gore of Apalachicola, FL, a host of Peace Corps
volunteer friends and professional colleagues, special friend, Teresa Carman of
Hartsville, TN and his dog, Sadie. Memorial contributions may be made to
an animal shelter or humane association of your choice.
