Cordell Jones, Jr., age 81
of Nashville and formerly of Lafayette passed away September 25, 2011 at Sumner
Regional Medical Center. Funeral services for Cordell Jones, Jr. were conducted
on Tuesday at 1 p.m. from the Chapel of the Alexander Funeral Home with Brother
Tommy Ferguson officiating.

Ammons, Carl Bateman, Lee Campbell, James Crague, Timmy Crague, Johnnie Crague,
and Daniel Meador served as pallbearers. Interment will follow in the Goad
Cemetery. Cordell Jones, Jr. was born on December 25, 1929 in Woodburn in
Simpson County, Kentucky to Cordell Jones and Stella White Jones. He was one of
five siblings born to this union. He married his sweetheart the former Mary
Evell Dickens on December 28, 1950, sharing fifty-three wonderful years
together and raising three children. Mary preceded Cordell in death on December
29, 2003. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by; three
brothers, George Ray Jones, Fred Glen Jones, and Henry Dee Jones, and one
sister, Clara Opal Jones. Cordell was an employee for Container Corporation of
America in Nashville, Tennessee for thirty years as a machine operator, before
retiring. He spent a lot of time tinkering in his woodshop, repairing pallets
for resale. Being outside cutting firewood for the winter was something he
enjoyed, also. Cordell was an avid fan of World Wrestling Federation, he loved
sitting back in his recliner watching his favorite wrestlers preform. As a
young boy the Lord saved his soul and he joined New Harmony Missionary Baptist
Church where he remained a member. He was a caring and loving husband, father,
and grandfather. The family meant everything to Cordell. He will be greatly
missed, but our loss is Heaven’s gain. Cordell is survived by; Daughters,
Deborah Dianne (Lee) Plant of Hartsville, TN, and Peggy Delores (Perry) Crague
of Hendersonville, TN, Son, Danny Jerome Jones of Nashville, TN, Grandchildren,
Christopher Brian West, Randall Ryan Ammons both of Hartsville, TN, Bridget
Elaine (Lee) Campbell of Goodlettsville, TN, Angela Marie ( Carl Bateman)
Crague of Gallatin, TN, and James Wayne Crague of Hendersonville, TN, Great
Grandchildren, Terri Diane Rose West, Bailey Chase Bateman, and Caroline Elise
Campbell.
