Rickey Barber


  Rickey Barber, age 51, of Hartsville, TN passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at the Vanderbilt Medical Center.

  Funeral Services for Rickey Barber were conducted, Monday, December 19 at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Brother Troy Barber and Elder Anthony Barber officiating. Atlas Barber, Rob Davis, Logan Dozier, Jerry Cunningham, Tyler Jenkins, and Corey Jenkins served as Pallbearers. Interment followed in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Rickey Barber was born on November 14, 1960 in Nashville, TN to Jackie Earl and Emma Moline Johnson Barber. He was one of four siblings born to this union.  He was met in heaven by; grandparents, E. A. and Delia Barber and Clarence “Jockey” and Sellie Irene Johnson, father-in-law, Louie Vinson, and brother-in-law, Donnie Taylor. Rickey married his sweetheart, the former Regina Vinson on February 14, 1981, sharing 30 years together. They raised a son and a daughter that they loved deeply. Rickey worked at Toshiba for twenty-four years of his life. After Toshiba closed, he went to work for Flex Technologies where he had been employed for the last year and a half.  Rickey enjoyed working on old cars with his son Atlas. He had even been known to participate in the Demolition Derby when he was able. He also enjoyed building things with his daughter Stormey. He wanted to add a porch on to anything that would be still. He had a dare devil heart and he was not afraid of anything.

  Rickey was a simple man who lived his life for his family. He loved playing in the swimming pool with his granddaughter, Pudding.  Rickey enjoyed making breakfast for the family when Ashley was off from work so everybody could eat together. This was what he loved the most, having all his kids with us. Rickey was saved by the grace of God around age 30. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, children, grandchild, and all who knew and loved him. Rickey is survived by; Wife, Regina Barber of Hartsville, TN, Son, Rickey Atlas (Ashley) Barber, Daughter, Stormey LaShae Barber and Jerry Cunningham , and Granddaughter, Alyse LaShae Barber all of Hartsville, TN, Parents, Jackie and Emma Barber of Lafayette, TN, Brothers,  David (Lindy) Barber, Joe (Tami) Barber, Sister, Jane Barber, Mother-in law,  Estherleen Vinson, all of Lafayette, TN, Sisters-in-law, Erma (Tommy) Brooks of the Akersville Community, Kathy Taylor of Smithville, TN, Brother-in-law, Dwight Vinson of Cross Plains, and Special Friend, Ronnie Celsor.
