Girvous Browning, age 91, of Red Boiling Springs, TN passed away Friday morning, April 13, 2012 at The Palace in Red Boiling Springs. Funeral Services for Girvous Browning were conducted Sunday afternoon, April 15, 2012, at 2 p.m. from the Anderson & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Red Boiling Springs with E. C. Meadows officiating. Interment followed in the Smith Chapel Cemetery with military honors. Honorary Pallbearers were Derrick Browning, Jeff Newberry, Brian Newberry, Eric Newberry, Cody Newberry, Jack Rice and Trey Newberry. Active Pallbearers were Barry Witcher, Dan Birdwell, Tony Ferguson, Kenneth Smith, Buddy Morgan, Bobby Morgan, David Burton and Glendon Boles. He was born Saturday June 19, 1920 in Clay County, Tennessee, one of eleven siblings born to the late Hove and Dora Birdwell Browning. On October 6, 1941, he married the love of his life Pearline Moss, who preceded him in death on October 20, 2011 having shared 70 years together. In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Mae Clevenger, Barbara Witcher, Myrtle Rhoten, Madge Bean and brothers, Andrew, Hubert, Buford, Vern and Audie Browning. Girvous was a farmer and a member of the Red Boiling Springs Church of Christ. He proudly served his country in the army during World War II receiving the American Theater Ribbon, EAME Theater Ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal World War II. Survivors include: daughter & son-in-law, Sandra & Wayne Newberry, son & daughter-in-law, James & Jo Ann Browning, granddaughter, Lora (Jack) Rice all of Red Boiling Springs, grandsons, Jeff (Tyece) Newberry, Cadiz, KY, Brian (Glenda) Newberry, Lebanon, Eric (Susan) Newberry, Lafayette, Derrick (Sarah) Browning, La Vergne, great-grandchildren, Emily, Morgan, Cody, Madison, Kaylee and Trey Newberry, Megan Rice, Dexter Browning, brother & sister-in-law, Kenneth & Kate Browning, Indianapolis, IN.
