Elvin Cherry, 82

Elvin Cherry, age 82, of the Union Hill Community in Clay County, TN passed away Monday evening, October 8, 2012 at his residence. Funeral services for Elvin Cherry were conducted Thursday afternoon, October 11, 2012 at 1 p.m. from the chapel of the Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Red Boiling Springs, TN with Jimmy Cook officiating. Interment followed in the Union Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Brad Craighead, A.J. Craighead, Johnny Young, Robert Strong, Terry Cross and Steve Rich. Elvin was married to Estellene Cross Cherry, who preceded him in death on November 23, 2004. He was a farmer and worked at Carter Automotive. In addition to Estellene, his wife of 54 years, he was preceded in death by his parents, Jasper and Pearl Bean Cherry; a son, Larry Cherry; sister, Genoa York; brother, Junior Cherry; granddaughter, Tiona Young; and grandson, Jamey Holland.  He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and Robert Strong of Smyrna; Donna Craighead of the Union Hill Community; Judy and Steve Rich of the Hermitage Springs Community; sons and daughter-in-law, Doug and Rita Cherry of Soddy Daisy; and Tim Cherry of the Union Hill Community; brother and sister-in-law, Russell and Joan Cherry of the Hermitage Springs Community; 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
