Noel Butler, 78

Noel Butler, age 78, of the Leonard Community in Clay County, TN passed away Thursday afternoon, February 14, 2013 at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, TN. Funeral Services for Noel Butler were conducted Saturday afternoon, February 16, 2013 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of the Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Red Boiling Springs, TN with Elder Ricky Wilson officiating. Interment followed in the Whitley Cemetery with military honors. Pallbearers were J.N. Rainey, Terry Butler, Zakkary Stevens, Ethan Shrum, Dwayne Shrum, Larry Butler, Bill Whitlock and Chad Butler. Noel was born Tuesday, June 19, 1934 in Macon County, Tennessee, one of four siblings born to the late Oscar and Hazel Vinson Butler. On December 5, 1959, he married the former Roxie Holland, who survives. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Ned Butler. Noel was retired from Tri-County Electric in Lafayette with 23 years of service and a member of the Mt. Vernon Church of Christ. He proudly served his country in the army during the Korean War receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Army Occupation Medal (Germany) and the Good Conduct Medal. Survivors besides his wife, Roxie of 53 years include: daughters & sons-in-law, Lesa & J.N. Rainey, Russell Hill Community, Carol & Dwayne Shrum, Lori Butler Henson, son, Chad Butler, all of Red Boiling Springs, sister, Sarah June Yano, Franklin, brother, Neil Butler, Carthage, and grandchildren, Ethan & Sarah Shrum, Zakkary Stevens, Lauren & Sydney Henson and Emmaline Rainey.
