Geneva Knight Law, 80
Geneva Knight Law, of the Rocky Mound Community in Macon County, was born on August 16, 1932 to the late Merlin Howser and Lassie Hoskins Howser, who survives. She departed this life on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at the age of 80 years, 7 months and 18 days. Funeral services for Geneva Law were conducted on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. from the Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Lafayette, with Dennis Ballard officiating. Interment followed in the Mt. Pleasant Church of Christ Cemetery. Pallbearers were Sandy Knight, Erik Knight, Christopher Knight, Ricky Holland, Matt Holland and David Sturm. As a young woman, she married Herbert Knight, spending 32 years together before his death. This union was blessed with three children – Danny, Sandy and Cindy. She later married Decatur Law, who also preceded her in death after 20 years together. Geneva went to work at Carter Automotive in 1973 and when it closed, she went to work at Westside Elementary as a cafeteria cook. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Church of Christ. “Granny”, as she was called by her family, enjoyed working in her flower beds and vegetable garden. Geneva was especially proud of a 50-pound head of cabbage she once produced. She loved canning, and never passed up a bucket of fruit and vegetables, or the opportunity to share those canned goods with family and friends. Geneva once told her daughter, “some people love to shop……..I love to can.” She loved to cook, and was famous for her coconut cakes, fried pies and Christmas candies. In addition to her husbands and father, Geneva was preceded in death by an infant sister. Along with her 97-year-old mother, she is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Mildred Knight of Westmoreland, and Sandy and Lynne Knight of the Rocky Mound Community; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Ricky Holland of Lafayette; grandchildren and their spouses, Erik and Jennifer Knight, David and Emily Sturm, Hannah and Josh Centers, Matt Holland, all of Lafayette, and Christopher Knight of Rutherford, TN; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Joseph and Joshua Knight, and Sydney and Collier Sturm, all of Lafayette; brothers, Harold Howser of Lafayette and Stevie Howser of Westmoreland; sisters and brothers-in-law, Bonnie and Billy Stone, Sue and Billy West, Patsy and Bill Carr, all of Lafayette, Diane and Larry Harper and Teresa and Charles Jett, all of Westmoreland.
