Elder Gordon Wheeler, 70

Elder Gordon Wheeler, age 70 of the Russell Hill Community in Macon County, TN passed away Tuesday morning, July 2, 2013 at the Riverview Regional Medical Center in Carthage, TN. Funeral Services for Elder Gordon Wheeler were conducted Friday afternoon, July 5, 2013 at 2 p.m. from the Anderson & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Red Boiling Springs, TN with Elder Terry Austin, Brother Greg West and Brother Shawn Shepherd officiating. Interment followed in the Patterson Cemetery.  Honorary Pallbearers were Elder Jerry Tuttle, Elder Billy Joe Shoulders, Elder J.E. Shoulders, Elder Daniel Cook, Brother Frankie Downs, Dr. Richard Rutherford, James Browning, Paul Swann and Billy Beasley.  Active Pallbearers were Joey Woodard, Ronnie Morgan, Bobby Morgan, Brian Langford, Mark Wakefield, Ronnie Cook, Jerry Cook and Terry Cook. Elder Gordon was born Sunday, August 23, 1942 in Macon County, Tennessee, one of four siblings born to the late Ernest and Bertha Carnahan Wheeler. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Roger Wheeler. On January 23, 1965, he married the former Lois Goad, who survives. He was a member of the Bethany Missionary Baptist Church and an electrician. On September 1, 1973, Gordon was ordained as a Missionary Baptist Minister. He served as the pastor of many churches and was a great servant to the Lord. Survivors besides his wife, Lois of 48 years include: daughters & son-in-law, Sherry Vance, Carthage, Tina & Barry Jenkins, grandson, Isaiah Jenkins, all of the Russell Hill Community, sister, Vivian Woodard, brother & sister-in-law, Billy & Betty Wheeler, all of Red Boiling Springs.
