Owena Virginia Holland, 79

Owena Virginia Holland was born on July 5, 1934 to the late Wesley Driver and Vola Mai Payne Driver. Owena was one of three children born to this union. She was married in her youth and was blessed with two children of her own, Carol and Steve. Later in life, on December of 1974, Owena was married to Jack Holland and they spent many wonderful years together until his death on February 2, 1993. Owena began working as a seamstress in 1951 for Formfit Rogers, from where she retired after 47 years. She was a very kind and loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to many people. Owena’s favorite thing was to be outdoors, and she especially enjoyed taking walks through the woods.  On Sunday mornings, she loved going to Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. Owena always made it a point to visit her family and friends that were in the nursing home. On Friday, November 22, 2013 at the age of seventy-nine, the Lord called Owena home. She will be missed greatly by her family and all who knew and loved her.  Owena is survived by Daughter, Carol (Charlie) Kirby; Son, Steve (Teresa) Swindle; Grandchildren, Corey (Janna) Kirby, Christy (Joshua) Swindle & Tyler Swindle; Great Grandchildren, Valerie & Vanessa Kirby; Sister, Betty Mai (Charles Young) Roddy; Brother, Phillip (Pat) Driver; Lifetime Friend, Nancy Blankenship and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Owena Holland were conducted Monday, November 25, 2013 at 11 am from the Chapel of the Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Walter Andrews officiating. Joshua Swindle served as Honorary Pallbearer. Corey Kirby, Tyler Swindle, Wesley Summers, Isaac Summers, Chuck Roddy and Prentice Driver served as Active Pallbearers. Interment followed in the Scott Cemetery.
