RBS Mayor Tom Fultz Resigns

By Jessie Williams

Red Boiling Springs Mayor Tom Fultz resigned from his position at 1:21 p.m. on Friday, July 27, 2017.

Red Boiling Springs Vice Mayor Joel Coe has taken over the role as mayor and will lead the city’s next special called council meeting on Wednesday, August 2, at 6 p.m.

The next regular council meeting is set for Thursday, August 10, at 7 p.m.

Coe has held a seat at the city council table for three years and has also served on the planning commission.

It’s likely he will maintain the role of mayor until the next election.

“I’m going to do my best to do a good job for the people of Red Boiling Springs,” said Coe. “I want the city to be as open as possible for residents, with nothing hidden. I hope to help our town get past all of the things that have happened lately.”

The Macon County Chronicle reached out to former Chief of Police Terry Tuck’s attorney Chad Jackson, who confirmed that, as of press time, a grievance hearing has not yet been set regarding Tuck’s termination.

According to District Attorney Tommy Thompson, he has requested that the TBI conduct an investigation into the events leading up to Tuck’s dismissal. That investigation is ongoing as of press time.
