RBS Police Officer Resigns

The Red Boiling Springs City Council accepted the resignation of Red Boiling Springs Police Officer Phil Harper, when they met in regular session on Thursday, July 12.

 

According to authorities in Red Boiling Springs, Officer Phil Harper had been suspended amid allegations of misconduct.

When contacted by telephone on Friday, July 13, Assistant District Attorney General Javin Cripps, stated that the DA’s Office was made aware of these allegations and the TBI had conducted an investigation.

In other business the following ordinances passed:

Ordinance #0-06-2018-3 to amend the City of Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee Municipal Code Title 4, Chapters 1, 2, and 3 all sections.

Ordinance #0-07-2018-1 amending ordinance number 03-6 of the City of RBS, Tennessee, to designate the Public Works Supervisor as the Director of Occupational Safety and Health.

Ordinance #0-06-2018-2 for amending the International Property Maintenance code 2nd reading.

The City Council approved the resolution to set the date of the General Election on the fourth Saturday of April, beginning in 2019 in the City of Red Boiling Springs.

The council hired Joseph Woodard as a full-time police officer in the City of Red Boiling Springs at $16.25 an hour.

The council accepted the bid of $25,380 for a water leak detection survey. They also discussed the survey done by the State of Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, and the perfect score RBS received.

The council discussed complaints by citizens of roadwork needing to be done and also a request for street signs asking people to slow down, where children play and ride their bikes.

The City Council accepted the bid of $8,100 for a new lawnmower.

Rita Watson, from Vision 20/20, spoke to the council.

A new policy was adopted by the council, limiting the number of dogs and cats per owner, within the city.

A motion carried to adopt the employee handbook.

Mayor Joel Coe presided over the meeting and the following council members were present: Butram, Hill, Rich, Smalling and Rufener. McCrary was absent.
