Tigers have busy week


The Macon County Tigers had a busy week last week. They competed in four games and got two wins.

On Monday Mar 9 Macon travelled to Liberty Creek. In a pitcher’s duel Liberty was able to push the winning run across in the bottom of the 6th inning to get the victory 1-0.

Jake Meador went 3 for 3 and Ty Bilbrey had the only other hit for the Tigers. Eli Carver threw four and two-thirds innings and gave up four hits and no earned runs. Mason Bandy threw 1 and one-third innings and gave up to hits and one earned run.

On Tuesday Liberty mad the return trip to Macon County. The Tigers gave up four runs in the first two innings, which proved to be too much. Macon loses by a final score of 2-5.

Meador was 2 for 2 while Bilbrey, Gage Jones, and Roman Brawner collected the other hits. Matthew Wheeley collected the loss and threw five innings surrendering seven hits and four earned runs. Roman Brawner threw two innings of relief and allowed one hit.

On Thursday Mar 12 Macon hosted Jackson County. Three in the bottom of the 2nd, two in the 5th, and four in the 6th was enough to get the win for the Tigers by the final of 9-1.

Bilbrey went 2 for 3 with an RBI, Roman Brawner was 2 for 3 scoring two runs, and Wheeley went 1 for 4 with 2 RBIs. Hayden Dean, Meador, Jones, and Carver also had hits. Chase Keene threw four innings and allowed six hits and had nine strike-outs. Keenan White threw three innings of relief and allowed one hit.

On Friday mar 13 the Tigers hosted Smith County. In an entertaining high school game, Macon managed to outlast the Owls and win 4-1.

Wheeley was 2 of 3 with two RBIs in the game while Dean had the only other hit. Gunner Carlisle collected the win throwing five innings allowing two hits one earned run and recording seven strike-outs. Roman Brawner and Mason Bandy each threw one inning of relief.

Finally the Tigers traveled to Trousdale County on Mar 14th. The Tigers would score three runs in the last third of the contest but couldn’t notch the win. The Yellow Jackets get the win by a final of 4-3.

Ty Bilbrey was the pitcher of record for Macon and he threw four and two-thirds innings and allowed 10 hits and four earned runs. White threw one and a third innings of relief. Jones was 2 for 3 while Dean, Wheeley, Bilbrey, Carson Brawner, and Emerson McClard also collected hits.

Jake Malmin got the win for Trousdale as he threw five and one-third innings allowing four hits and one earned run. Caleb Fruchey also threw one and two-thirds innings and gave up three hits. Gavin Linville, Malmin, and Eli Wright each had multiple hits in the contest.

This week Macon has another busy week. They are scheduled to host Friendship Christian on Monday Mar 16, travel to Station Camp on Tuesday Mar 17, travel to Jackson County on Mar 19 and travel to Clay County on Mar 20.
