Tigers lose to White County


The Macon County Tigers were the #1 seed in District 8-3A and would host the #4 seed White County Warriors. The game was played in Lafayette on Saturday Feb 28th at Nera White Gymnasium.

Both teams came out and had a great first eight minutes. In what looked like what might shaped up as a great game White County led 18-11 heading into the second period.

Both squads struggled to score in the second eight minutes but Sparta was able to build on their lead. The Tigers trailed at home at the break by a score of 16-30. White County was hitting shots at an exceptionally high percentage and Macon was not.

Both teams only managed seven points in the third quarter. The Warriors would also outscore Macon by two in the final eight minutes to get the road win by a final score of 54-38. All four teams from District 7-3A won their games against their 8-3A opponents on Saturday night.

Scoring for the Tigers was: Aiden Barlow 12 points, McKade Mix 10 points, Jake Meador 8 points, Braylon Marshall 4 points, and Brody Huffines 4 points. Macon shot 11% from three-point range and White County shot 42%, making eight more three point baskets.

This ends the season for the Tigers with a record of 22-11 for the season. The Tigers will graduate two starting seniors from the 2025-2026 team.
