Recovering The America We Once Knew
In all probability, to ponder the possibility of restoring America to Her once glory is engaging in wishful thinking.
The people of today’s United States are much like the people of Jeremiah’s time: “Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, we will not walk therein,” (Jeremiah 6:16). “We will not walk therein.” That was the problem in that day, and is still the problem today. Man is rebellious, and insists at all costs in having his way.
Man refuses to walk in the path of financial responsibility. He buys a four-thousand square foot house, knowing his income isn’t sufficient to manage the debt, but he ignores that fact, and when he loses his house he blames it on the president in Washington or the Pope in Rome.
Oh, how the present generation ignores the path or morality! If it makes you happy, do it. If it feels good do it. It doesn’t matter that “Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people” (Proverbs 14:34), for they are going to do what they want to do.
Then there are those who refust to walk in the patch of the Bible, claiming politics and religion don’t mix. Well, this is the very reason politics have become so corrupt, being destitute of righteousness.
John the Baptist didn’t believe this hogwash! He went to the biggest politician in his day, Herod, and said to him, “It is not lawful for you to have her,” meaning his brother Phillip’s wife, whom he had stolen from him and married her.” John used true religion to condemn an adulterous union.
Jesus took on the lowest politician of His time. He sent word to Herod by another, “Go tell that fox (Herod), that I’ve got no time for him, I’m doing the Lord’s work.” Hardly a compliment, wouldn’t you say?
Elijah took on the most corrupt administration of his age when he confronted Ahab and his wicked wife Jezebel.
Much of the Old Testament is the history of God directing His people to take on the forces of corrupt nations.
Any preacher today is in good company with John the Baptist, Jesus, Elijah, and even God, when he takes on the anti-Bible, anti-American people. No amount of screaming on the part of leftwing advocates will prevent me from mixing righteousness with politics, hoping it will rub off on our pagan society. Killing babies is wrong! Same sex marriage is wrong! Giving people something for nothing is wrong. A special thanks to my friend Lincoln Davis, who represents part of the Crossville area in the House of Representatives in Washington for voting against bailing out Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Representative Davis is worthy of his district’s support. He is one of the few good Democrats left in Tennessee.
The use of textbooks to mold the thinking of students from that of their parents is also wrong. I deplore it. This was what the liberals were doing in the Chicago School System when Obama’s bunch gave money to the system which was for the purpose of challenging America’s proven way of life and laying a foundation for change-change which is bad, not good.
We’ll never recover the America we once knew until we enthrone God in our hearts. Multiplied millions, in their own twisted thinking, have dethroned God, and a nation’s people without God is doomed for failure.
Incidentally, there are two good people running for the House of Representatives in Tennessee and the people need to send them to Nashville – one is Mike McDonald, a Democrat from Sumner County and the other is Terri Lynn Weaver, a Republican from Smith County. Both are people of great character and they would represent the people of Tennessee in a responsible manner.
