Dorothy Cothron, 99
Dorothy Cothron, age 99 of Macon County, TN passed away on Jan. 31 at Westmoreland Care & Rehab. Funeral services for Dorothy Cothron were conducted Tues., Feb. 2 from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Kenneth Woodall and J. E. Shoulders officiating. Mitch Guffey, Anthony Blackwell, Kelly Howell, Matt Howell, Jeff Hughes, and Jerry Brawner served as honorary pallbearers. Interment followed in the Green Grove Cemetery. She was born on Feb. 8, 1910 in Hardy, Arkansas, to her parents; the late Robert Clay and Pearl Walling Henshaw.
Dorothy was married in 1929, for a time to Delbert Coker, the father of her children. She later married Paul Cothron on April 7, 1956, sharing thirty-two years together; Paul preceded her in death in Aug. of 1988. Besides her husbands and parents; son, Julius Lee Coker, son-in-law, Roy Satterfield, granddaughter, Lawana Satterfield, brothers, Joe Henshaw, Homer Henshaw, and Virgil Henshaw, sisters, Florence Henshaw, Floye Bennett, and Faye Waller, also preceded her in death. Dorothy was a homemaker, a babysitter, and at times had set with the sick. She was a lady who enjoyed the outdoors; working in her garden and flowers. Dorothy had a green thumb when it came to her flowers and liked to show them off. She worked many days along side Paul on the farm and in the fields. She loved to be busy all the time. She was a good cook and the kitchen is where you could find her most anytime, she did enjoy quilting in her spare time, too. She was a loving and kind hearted person, always ready and willing to help others. Dorothy savored every moment she shared with her family. She was saved and joined Fairveiw Missionary Baptist Church around the age of eighteen; then later in life moved her membership to Cedar Bluff Missionary Baptist Church, where she remained a member. Dorothy will be greatly missed by her family and all those who knew and loved her. Dorothy is lovingly survived by; daughters, Patricia Jeanette and husband Jim Howell of the Siloam Community, Lallie Dee and husband W.T. Warner of the Westside Community, and Estelene Satterfield of Gallatin, TN, grandsons, Mike and wife Karen Warner Primm Springs, TN, Kelly and Pam Howell of Bethpage, TN, granddaughters, Connie and husband Anthony Blackwell of Lafayette, TN, and
Mechelle and husband Mitch Guffey of Hartsville, TN, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and a host of nephews and nieces, also survive.
