Helen Frances Wilburn, 93

Helen Frances Wilburn, age 93 of Lafayette, TN, passed away on Feb. 1 at Knollwood Manor. Funeral services for Helen Frances Wilburn were conducted Thurs. from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Dean Taylor, and Elder Jeff Blackwell officiating. Herald Gregory, Jimmy Wilburn, Billy Toney, Jerry Fisher, David Dyer, and Jimmy Dyer served pallbearers. Interment followed in the Macon County Memorial Gardens. She was born on Nov. 6, 1916 in Trousdale County, Tennessee, to her parents; the late Rome and Neppie Parker Gregory.

Helen first met Evans Woodrow Wilburn on Sat., Nov. 21, 1936, at Cato; they were married on Sept. 29, 1940, sharing sixty-one years together and raising one son, Scottie Wyatt Wilburn; Woodrow preceded her in death on May 27, 2001. Besides her husband and parents; brother, James Gregory and sister, Clarice Gregory, also preceded her in death. She worked public work in her earlier years, while living in Nashville. After moving back home to a farm in the Meadorville community in 1952, she became a homemaker. A kind, gentle, caring, virtuous woman, Helen was a lover of family and friends, and enjoyed being outdoors. She was saved by God’s amazing grace as a young girl while attending Mace’s Hill Missionary Baptist Church, after being saved, she was baptized into the fellowship of Dixon Creek Missionary Baptist Church at Cato, where she remained a member until death. She loved her church family and her husband’s home church at Old Bottom, and had a desire for everyone to be saved. Helen will be missed by all who knew and loved her.  She is survived by; son and daughter-in-law, Scottie and Gayle Wilburn of the Meadorville community, granddaughter, Jennifer (Jason) Brawner of Lafayette, and Kara (Nathan) Wheet of the Union Hill community, great-grandchildren, Mia, Molly, and Carson Brawner of Lafayette, Elijah and Bree Wheet of the Union Hill community, also survive.
