Funeral services for Hillis Dean Stone were conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Eulia General Baptist Church with Reverend Wayne Keen and Reverend Gary Sullivan officiating.  Josh Blankenship, Wesley Spears, Cody Blankenship, David Spears, Jr. and Matthew Blankenship served as Honorary Pallbearers. B. J. Blankenship, Wayne Blankenship, Chris Blankenship, Wendell Scott, Jerry Stone, and Roger Williamson served as Active Pallbearers. Interment followed in the Eulia Cemetery.

He was born in Macon County, Tennessee on September 1, 1928 to the late James Arthur and Nellie Lillian Leath Stone.
Hillis married the love of his life, Mary Louise Simmons on May 4, 1946, sharing sixty-three years together and raising one daughter; Mary survives.  Besides his parents; infant daughter, Deborah Sue Stone, sister, Laymon Marshall, brothers, Rudolph Stone, and Melvin Stone, also preceded him in death.  He was a dedicated, caring and loving family man, who enjoyed every minute he spent with his family.
As a young man, Hillis worked sixteen years for Genesco, and then became a substitute mail carrier and worked as a rain and hail crop adjuster part-time.  Later, Hillis went to work for the United States Department of Agriculture, in the Tobacco Division, and retired in the 1990’s.  He was a farmer most of his life and never minded hard work, being raised on the farm as a young boy he knew what it took to be a true farmer and didn’t mind getting his hands dirted or his back tried. He previously served on the County Commission and was a director on the North Central Board and the Farm Bureau Board.
He was saved as a boy and joined Eulia General Baptist Church in 1946; he was ordained a Deacon in the 1980’s at Eulia where he remained a great servant for the Lord. Hillis will be greatly missed by his loving family and all who knew him.
Besides his wife of sixty-three years, he is survived by; daughter, Barbara and husband Willie J. better known as “Preacher” Blankenship of the Cold Springs Community in Macon County, TN, grandchildren, B.J. and wife Carolyn Blankenship of Lafayette, TN, Wayne and wife Penny Blankenship of the Oakdale Community in Macon County, TN, Chris Blankenship of the Eulia Community in Macon County, TN, Josh Blankenship, and Rachell and husband Wendell Scott all of the Cold Springs Community in Macon County, TN, brother, Windell Stone, sisters, Margaret Carr and
Mary Williamson all of the Eulia Community in Macon County, TN, nine great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; also survive.
