Believe it or not, there is dead weight even in the church. An unknown author has penned a poem which graphically describes this dead weight.
I’ve been a dead weight many years
Around the church’s neck;
I’ve let others carry me
And always pay the check.
I’ve had my name upon the rolls
For years and years gone by;

I’ve criticized and grumbled too, nothing could satisfy.
I’ve been a dead weight long enough
Upon the church’s back;
Beginning now, I’m going to take
A wholly different track.
I’m going to pray and pay and work
And carry loads instead; and not have others carry me
Like people do the dead.
There are four main bones in every organization:
The wishbones: Wishing somebody would do something about the problem.
The jawbones: Doing all the talking but very little else.
The knucklebones: Those who knock everything.
The backbones: Those who carry the brunt of the load and so most of the work.
We need more backbones in the church. Come to think of it, we need more backbones in Washington.
The weak-kneed, spineless, jellyfish are a disgrace to this great land.
Then there us the matter of the giveaways. Liberals in government ate eager to give away tax dollars. If they would give it to the elderly, the sick, the children, the unemployed, that would be great, but they forget millions who neither qualify nor do they deserve charity. These same liberals are pressing to give away our lands, our defenses, our values, and the very freedoms established by the sacrifice and blood of our forefathers.
May God bless Christians and there efforts to make this world better. And may God bless the newly elected officials in Washington. And if they don’t do better than the ones before them, then let’s bring them hone- Republicans, Democrats, and Mudwomps- All of them. Do I hear an Amen?
