Jr. Bulldogs Semi-Final Action

The RBS Jr. High Bulldogs advanced to the semi-final game against Dibrill on Friday, February 18, 2011.
The Bulldogs improved their record to 19-4 for the 2010/2011 season after claiming a 34-31 win over Dibrill.
The Bulldogs opened the semi-final game with a 11-6 lead over Dibrill, which continued throughout the half time break, 17-15.
Dibrill picked up the pace to out score the Bulldogs  23-21 by the end of the third quarter.
The final round of play was a hot one, as baskets were being answered on both sides of the court.
A three-point shot by Skyler Holden just moments into the fourth quarter helped RBS get back on top, 24-23, but one minute later, Dibrill landed their own three to lead 26-24.
Dallas Greanead then picked up a free throw to shadow 26-25. Dibrill added three free-shots to change the lead their way, 29-25. Alex Mullinix nailed a two-point basket with 2:05 left in the game, inching closer 29-27.
Greanead prevented a basket under the goal at 1:25, followed by a two-point shot by Zane Roberts to knot the battle at 29 each. Dibrill answered with two points of their own to lead 31-29. With less than one minute to play, Mullinix re-tied the game at 31. RBS forced a full court press with three seconds left remaining on the game clock, that led to a three-point winning shot by Alex Mullinix, RBS 34, Dibrill 31.
Alex Mullinix led the Bulldogs with 15 points, followed by Zane Roberts with 11 points, Skyler Holden with five points, and Dallas Greanead with three points.
The Bulldogs advanced to the Championship game on Feb. 19, and became the runner-ups of the TNT Class 2A boys division. See next week’s edition for the full story.

Jr. Tigerettes ~ TNT Runner-Up

The Macon County Jr. High Tigerettes were able to pave their way through the Class 4A girls division of the TNT State Tournament to face Robert Ellis Middle School for the Championship title this past Saturday, February 19.
The game was tied at eight points each after the first quarter of play, and by the halftime break, the girls of Robert Ellis had acquired a two-point lead, 14-12. Returning to the third period, the Macon County Tigerettes found themselves trailing 26-19 after a few turnovers. The Tigerettes picked up the pace in the fourth quarter of play, with points made my Leah Anderson, Marissa Owens, Reese Shrum, and Emilee Harris, to shadow Robert Ellis 33-30 with 1:35 left in regulation. Moments later, Robert Ellis added one free throw to their score to lead 34-30. Reese Shrum was able to inch the Tigerettes closer with two free shots of her own, with 32.9 on the game clock. Two-points from Tigerette Emilee Harris tied the game at 34 each with 10.8 left to play.
Macon County then fouled Robert Ellis, giving them a one point lead, 35-34. The Tigerettes raced to their side of the goal with time for one last play, however the last scoring attempt failed, and Robert Ellis claimed the win.
Reese Shrum led the Tigerettes with 13 points, followed by Leah Anderson with 11 points, Emilee Harris with four points, and Briley Driver and Marissa Owens with three points each. The Tigerettes ended the season with an outstanding 19-1 record for the season. See next week’s edition for additional Jr. Tigerette TNT highlights.
