Tigerette season ends in Watertown

The Macon County High School Tigerette softball team saw their season come to an end this week. They were playing the District 8-AAA tournament in Watertown.

The first game was on Monday May 4 against DeKalb County. The Tigerettes jumped out to an early 5-2 lead after five innings and held on late to get the win by a final score of 5-4.

Maysi Patterson collected the win as she threw five innings and scattered seven hits and four earned runs with three strikeouts. Kaylen Moore collected the save as she pitched two innings and allowed one hit. Jazzlyn Centers went 3 for 4 at the plate and scored two runs. Emma Farley and Moore each had two hits and two RBIs. Ryleigh Coley, Camryn McConnell, and Anniston Tirjan rounded out the score sheet with one hit each.

Next on Tuesday May 5 was against the regular season champions Watertown. The Purple Tigers scored in all six frames they came to bat from beginning to end. Macon simply couldn’t get their bats going. Watertown advances by winning with a 10-1 score over the Tigerettes.

Kayli Aulick recorded the loss in the circle. She threw two and two-thirds innings and allowed seven hits and three earned runs. Moore pitched one and one-third innings allowing four hits and two earned runs while Patterson threw one and two-thirds innings and allowed three hits and two earned runs. Sierra Troutt, Moore, and Tirjan collected the only hits for Macon in the contest.

In a win-or-go-home game on Wednesday May 6, Macon would face DeKalb again. It is hard to keep beating the same team and DeKalb came ready to play. In the top of the fourth inning, and with Macon leading 4-3, DeKalb would explode with six hits, two walks to score eight runs. Macon could never catch up and DeKalb would win and advance by a score of 14-5.

Moore was the pitcher of record throwing six and two-thirds innings allowing ten hits and seven earned runs. Patterson would throw two-thirds of an inning and allow five hits and six earned runs. Centers had four hits and an RBI while Moore had two hits and an RBI as well. Troutt, Coley, Patterson, McConnell, Farley, and Tirjan also collected hits.

The Tigerettes finish with a record of 13-18 and one game away from advancing to the region tournament. They graduate three seniors from this year’s squad.
