Tigerettes Remain Unbeaten in District 9-AA

The Tigerettes of Macon County remain unbeaten and in first place in District 9-AA. They faced district foes Westmoreland and White House this week as well as the Green Wave of Gallatin.
On Tuesday MCHS played host to White House. The Blue Devils had no answer for the hot handed Calamity Coley as Macon pushed out to an 18-6 first quarter lead. Some really good defense from the Tigerettes pretty much sealed the win early and at the half the game was pretty much over with Macon leading 32-8. Coach Beam was able to start playing his bench early and Macon cruised to an easy 61-28 victory.
Scoring were: Kelsey Gregory 2, Kailyn Brooks 7, Terra Pryor 12, Katie Reid 6, Calamity Coley 18, Katelyn Bean 4, Briley Driver 3, Reece Shrum 3, Whitney Wilburn 3, Michaela Thompson 1, and Leah Anderson 2. Macy Kemp, Alyssa Tuck, and Jade “Dbug” Ellis all played but did not score.
On Friday the Tigerettes traveled to Westmoreland. The Tigerettes came out playing some great defense and held the Eagles to just six points in the opening quarter and led 17-6 after one. Coach Beam credited this tough gritty play as the key to the Macon victory. In the second, Brooks got the hot hand and Macon led 31-19 at the half. The Eagles came out and tried to make a game of it, but just couldn’t top the hill. It didn’t hurt that the Tigerettes were 9 of 10 from the line in the last period. Final score MCHS 56 WHS 44.
Scoring were: Gregory 9, Brooks 13, Pryor 11, Reid 6, Coley 14, and Bean 2. Driver, Shrum, Wilburn, and Anderson all played but did not score.
On Saturday the Green Wave of Gallatin came calling in Lafayette. Macon jumped out and led after one by a score of 18-8 behind balanced scoring from four of the five starters. This contest was pretty much decided at the half as Macon led 40-16. Even though Coach Beam was able to empty the bench, the Tigerettes were able to hold the Green Wave to just eight points or less in all four quarters. Final score MCHS 65 Gallatin 32.
Scoring were Gregory 6, Brooks 9, Pryor 14, Reid 6, Coley 10, Bean 11, Driver 2, Shrum 2, Ellis 3, and Anderson 2. Wilburn, Kemp, and Tuck all played but did not score.
The Tigerettes improve to 19-3 overall and 6-0 and first place in District 9AA.
