How To Catch A Monkey
I’m told that one of the oldest methods of catching a monkey is to cut a small hole in a gourd, tie it to a tree, and then fill it up with seeds in the hollowed-out gourd.
Soon long comes a monkey, and filled with curiosity, reaches through the tiny hole to explore the gourd’s contents. Feeling the seeds, he scoops them up in his hand and tries to pull his fist through the tiny hole. To his dismay, he finds he cannot free himself. Do you know why? He doesn’t want to let go of his precious treasure, so he keeps his fist closed until captors come. He could be free if only he had learned to let go.
The action of many today are as foolish as the monkey. Too many attempt to hold on to their material goods until they are caught in godless materialism. Others have scooped up a fist full of pleasure and they’ve not got enough sense to let it go.
Sometimes we even go to the services of church with a fist full of problems, but refuse to let go of them so God can help. What dumb monkies we are, for Jesus said, “What things so ever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them” (Mark 11:24).
But the dumminest of all is to grab a handful of the liberal networks, and refuse to let go, for that handful of liberalism contains the plans for the destruction of America, to be replaced by Islam. Allowing Muslims to teach law officers in Middle Tennessee concerning terrorism is the same as putting a fox in the henhouse. Will they tell them about the attack on the Marine barracks in Beirut, Lebanon, embassy, which the Muslims admitted to carrying out? Will they tell them about blowing up a Pan-Am flight to New York from Lockerbie, Scotland, which the Muslims claimed the responsibility? And what about September 11, 2001? Christians need a handful of political correctness designed to promote radical Islam.
