Macon County Trap Team Wins National Class Championship Titles
Over 1500 athletes from across the United States gathered at the World Shooting & Recreational Shooting Complex in Sparta Illinois on August 3rd thru the 6th to compete in the Amateur Trapshooting Association’s AIM Grand Championships.
The Macon County Trap Team earned 1st place in the Junior Class D category with 2nd year shooter Eli Doss tying for 1st place in the Class D Individual category.
Macon County’s Junior squad 1 shot a combined score of 943/1000 to win the Class D National title led by senior member Colton Kirby 193/200, Brock Rutan 190/200, Dalton Driver 189/200, Tyler Knight 186/200 and David Richardson 185/200. Junior Squad 2 finished 12th in Class C with a 919/200. Eli Doss led the 2nd squad with a 191/200, Kelsey Cook 184/200, Ryan Minchey 182/200 with Jon Tucker and Kelsey Bullington both scoring 181/200. Rounding out the Junior team was Jackson Sircy with a 178/200.
The sub Junior Squad finished 10th with an 873/1000. Grant Towns led the squad with a 180/200 followed by Daniel Holland 179/200, Jordan Gentry 179/200, Mason Gunter 172/200 and Hunter Dyer 162/200.
Individual honors go to Eli Doss for earning a share of the Class D National Championship with his 191/200 performance and Brock Rutan and Jon Tucker for hitting their first 50 straight.
