Rain Shortens Tigers Week

Above average rainfall has got the Macon County Tigers squeezing in any baseball game they can play.

This past week the only games they could play was a double header at Upperman.

On Tuesday April 14th the Tigers traveled to Upperman. In the early game the Bees jumped on the Tigers, scoring four runs in the bottom of the 2nd, with only one of them earned. The Bees score a total of 11 runs on 7 Tiger errors and win by a score of 11-2.

Ace Justin Woodard went 3 1/3 innings, giving up 3 hits and 1 earned run with 4 walks and 3 strike-outs. Austin Herbert also pitched 2 1/3 and gave up only 2 hits with 1 strke-out. Kole Cliburn went 2 for 4 for the game while Daniel Ashburn went 1 for 2 and scored 2 runs. Clay Carnahan went 1 for 3 and got 2 RBIs.

The Tigers lost a close one in the late game. They spotted the Bees five runs in the first two innings which was all it took. They did score three in the 3rd but just couldn’t make up the early deficit. Final score Upperman 5 Macon 3.

Jake Reeves hurled 3 innings and gave up 5 earned runs on 5 hits and 2 walks. Carnahan came on in relief, going 4 innings and giving up only 1 hit with 4 strike-outs. Ashburn went 2 for 4 scoring one run while Kole Cliburn and Woodard both went 1-4.

With a chance of rain predicted every day this week, the Tigers are scheduled to travel to Cannon Co on the 20th and host Cannon on the 21st. In-county rival Red Boiling Springs is scheduled at home on the 23rd at 6 pm.
