Junior High Tiger Defense Gets Shut-Out

The Macon County Junior High  shut-out the DeKalb County Saints on the Tiger’s Homecoming on Tuesday August 30th.


Macon came away with a 28-0 victory.

Cameron Houston returned the opening kick-off back for a 78 yard score. Ethan Jenkins would add the conversion and the Tigers led 8-0 at the 7:41 mark. With 2:57 left in the 1st period Skylar Haney had a 75 yard TD run. The two point conversion failed and Macon led 14-0. Just before halftime Jenkins hit Logan Whittemore for a 10 yard TD pass and Jenkins added the conversion. At the half Macon led 22-0.

The 3rd quarter would be scoreless for both teams but with 5:30 remaining in the game Macon would add one more score. Jenkins ran it in from 8 yards out and the conversion failed. Final score was Macon 28 DeKalb 0.

Jenkins was 3 of 7 for 42 yards and 1TD and 2INTs while he rushed 5 times for 48 yards and a TD. Haney ran 5 times for 94 yards and one TD, Whittemore ran 2 times for 22 yards and caught 2 balls for 32 yards and a TD. Damien Aguirre ran 2 times for 11 yards and Landon Colter carried the ball 1 time for -5 yards. Ty Lowhorn had one catch for 10 yards. Ethan Jenkins and Logan Whittemore, who happened to be captains for this Homecoming game, led macon with 8 tackles each followed by Dylan Hesson(7) and Payton Leslie(4). The Saints finished the game with only 115 yards of total offense.

Next for the Junior Tigers is the trip everyone loves to make, Fentress County. Macon will travel to Jamestown on Thursday September 8th with a kick-off scheduled for 6:30 pm.
