Tigerettes Building Steam for Postseason
The Macon County High School softball team had a busy schedule this past week.
It was the last full week of games prior to the post-season.
On Apr 22 the Tigerettes traveled to York Institute in Fentress County. Macon wasted little time with a six run frame in the top of the 1st enroute to a 16-6 victory. Raini Gerometta was the starter and threw 2 1/3 innings and allowed three hits, three earned runs, and four strike-outs. Allyson Shoulders threw 4 2/3 innings of relief and gave up just one hit. Allyson Shoulders went 3 for 4 with four RBIs and a homerun in the first inning. Morgan Carter was 4 for 4 with three RBIs and a homerun and Morgan Spivey was 2 for 3 with three RBIs.
On Apr 23rd Macon hosted the Nashville Lady Knights. In a game that Macon trailed for most of the night, the Tigerettes scored one run each in the last two innings but couldn’t make up the difference. Gerometta got the loss as she went 4 innings and allowed three earned runs on four hits. Shoulders came on and threw 3 innings and allowed one earned run on two hits. Carter again was 2 for 2 with another homerun.
The Lady Cats from Livingston came to town for a district game on Apr 24th. Shoulders threw 6 innings and allowed four hits and one earned run. Gerometta threw one inning of scoreless relief. Madilyn Goodall, Shoulders, and Carter all had multiple RBIs as Carter, Shoulders, Rachel Ritchie, Gerometta, Myle Crowder, and Kara Case all scored runs. Carter also had another homerun. In a game that put the Tigerettes in first place in district 8-AA, Macon won 9-4.
Thursday Apr 25th was Senior Night for three ladies from the Class of 2019. Rachel Ritchie, Hannah Keene, and Allyson Shoulders were all honored at the contest against Smith County. In a rout that went only five innings, Macon won by a score of 17-7. Shoulders was the winning pitcher throwing 3 innings, allowing six hits and two earned runs. Gerometta, Mahaley Shoulders, and Allie Warner threw two innings of relief. Carter continued her hot streak and hit her 17th homerun of the season, hitting 2 for 2 with 4RBIs. Goodall was 3 for 4, Ritchie was 2 for 3, Gerometta went 1 for 3, and all three ladies collected three RBIs each.
On Apr 26th macon hosted the Lady Blue Devils from Jackson County. Trista Jenkins went 2 for 4 with two RBIs while Makenzie Stafford went 2 for 3, and Olivia Belton was 2 for 3 in the game. Gerometta pitched the entire 7 innings and allowed only one earned run on one hit.
This week the Tigerettes are scheduled to play at Gordonsville on Apr 29th and host Watertown on Apr 30th.
