Monterey Rolls over Bulldogs

The Monterey Wildcats made the long trip to the Dog Pound in Red Boiling Springs last Friday night and walked away with a 47-6 victory.

The Wildcats proved to be everything we expected as they controlled the game on both sides of the line.

This Wildcat team is very solid in every phase of the game from special teams to having one of the best defensives that the Bulldogs will face all year.

The Wildcats scored touchdowns on their first two possessions to go up 14-0 and were driving for a third score and got down to the Bulldog one yard line. The Wildcats fumbled and Bulldog defensive back Zach Swank picked up the fumble and down the sideline he headed for the Bulldog end zone and scored on a 99 yard romp to give the Bulldogs fans something to cheer about. Swank got a great block from Dalton Thompson that freed him to score his only touchdown of his career.

The halftime score of 14-6 gave the Bulldog faithful some glimmer of hope but the Wildcats would come back to score 33 second half points and put away a 47-6 region 4 victory. The Bulldogs never got on-track and their offense could not find any success but the Bulldogs improved in not turning the ball over, with only one. The Bulldogs had only three penalties and that shows they are capable of getting close to finding the win column.

The stats show Dalton Thompson with 8 tackles while Walker Reynolds recorded 9 tackles plus Devin Justice had 7 tackles and 2 assists. Bishop Moore had one of his better games making 6 tackles and 1 assist. Christian White had a nice game making 5 tackles and 2 of those tackles were for losses.

The Bulldogs had less than 90 yards of total offense but give Monterey some credit because their defense was very good.

The Bulldogs will be on the road this Friday night to take on the Jackson County Blue Devils and a win would do wonders for these kids.
