Man Flees From Police on Jimtown Rd.

A Westmoreland man was apprehended Tuesday, May 19, after fleeing from authorities twice on foot. 

 

According to the incident report, Macon County Sheriffs Department Deputy Logan Swindle was on patrol May 18, when he got behind a tan, Chevy Cavalier and discovered the license plate did not match the vehicle it was on. 

The deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on Jimtown Rd. but the driver would not stop.

Officer Swindle received assistance from other deputies, and they were able to locate the abandoned vehicle near a wood line. The driver had fled the scene. 

An inventory search of the vehicle led to the discovery of brass knuckles, assorted prescription pills, rolling papers and other drug paraphernalia.

The suspect was identified as 41-year-old Christopher Robinson, and an active warrant was taken out for his arrest. 

The following morning, May 19, Detective Jacob McClard was on patrol when he witnessed a male subject walking on Jimtown Rd. that matched Robinson’s description.

Officer McClard was able to make contact with the man and identify him as Christopher Robinson. Robinson then fled on foot into the woods.

Additional officers, and Macon County Sheriff Mark Gammons, arrived on the scene moments later and Robinson was apprehended and transported to the Macon County Jail. 

He was charged with evading arrest, weapon-prohibited, possession of legend drug, possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal trespassing, driving on revoked license, vandalism, trespass by motor vehicle, wrong license plate displayed, driving unregistered vehicle, and financial responsibility violation.

Mr. Robinson’s bond was set at $26,200, and he is scheduled to appear in general sessions court on June 10, 2020.
