Layce Colter has been given the job of head basketball coach for the Red Boiling Springs High School and Junior High School girls teams.

She played in 130 consecutive games in high school and in 2011 she held the school record for three-point shooting (83%), 3 pointers (346) and scoring (2,534 points). She was selected All-State three times

In a phone interview on Jun 15th Coach Colter said, “I am very excited for the opportunity to be coming home and take on this challenge. I look forward to meeting the players and parents and get to work.”

Director of Schools Tony Boles indicated that Colter was hired to take over both positions and that she will be filling a non-certified position assisting with the Special Education department.

Following her career at Red Boiling Springs, Colter played collegiately at Cumberland University and spent two years as an assistant coach at Macon County High School with Coach Larry White.

“Layce was one of the best I ever coached,” MCHS Coach Larry White commented. “She knows the game so well that many times I never ever had to coach or guide her. I think she is the perfect person for this job and she will do well.”

Colter has been given the job following the dismissal of former head coach Dustin McKinney just over a week ago.
