Tigerettes poised for championship

With one game left in the regular season, the Tigerette softball team is on the cusp of securing a District 7-3A championship.

The scheduled game with Friendship Christian on Monday Apr 24th was cancelled.

On Tuesday Apr 25th Macon hosted Cumberland County for a district game. It wasn’t much of a contest as the Tigerettes won 19-0 in three innings. Every starter scored a run in the contest. Macy Meador, Bailey Turner, Ellie Coley, Cadence Carter, and Gianna Holden all managed to collect hits. Kenley Roark, Ryleigh Coley, and Kayla Frye also managed to record RBIs. Ellie Coley went the three innings in the circle and gave up only one hit with seven strike-outs.

Thursday Apr 27th was a big game district game at DeKalb County. This was a real pitching duel. Ellie Coley managed to only allow a scattered four hits and one walk while striking-out five. Ellie, Carter, and Frye (2) recorded the only hits for the Tigerettes. DeKalb committed four errors and the Tigerettes walked away with a 2-0 victory.

This means that the Tigerettes currently sit in first place in the district. However a cancelled game from earlier in the month at Livingston must now be played. This game is scheduled to be played Monday May 1st. If the Tigerettes lose, both Macon and Upperman will have two district losses and a head-to-head split. Upperman would be seeded #1 headed into the post-season on the next tie-breaker.

The District 7-3A Tournament will be played in Lafayette if they win Monday’s game. If not the Tigerettes will have to travel to Baxter with a scheduled start date of May 5th.
