Tigers host Bulldogs for annual school game


The MCHS Tigers hosted the RBSHS Bulldogs for an afternoon game for the students at Macon County High. It also is a great fundraiser for that program.

On Thursday Apr 13 during the last block of school, the Tigers faced the Bulldogs. Braxton Lloyd, Tyler Gregory, Landon Warner, Hayden Dean, John Wilson, Chase Keene, Hayes Polston, and Landon Connor all had hits. Lloyd, Jordan Rogers, Gregory, Warner, Brawner, Dean, Matthew Wheeley, Marcus Jones, Braylon Flowers, Wilson, Keene, and Connor scored runs. Gage Jones started the game on the mound and threw three innings allowing two hits and one earned run. John Wilson threw two innings of relief allowing one hit and two earned runs. Macon won 13-3 in five innings.

For the Bulldogs Chris Hackney threw five innings on the mound and allowed 10 earned runs on seven hits with three strike-outs. Jayden White, Jared White, and Chris Hackney all collected hits in the game.

The Tigers also surrendered two District 7-3A games earlier in the week to 1st place Upperman. At Baxter on Monday Apr 10th Macon lost 7-2 behind Hunter Patterson and Landon Conner throwing a combined six innings allowing 12 hits and six earned runs. On the return game in Lafayette, a pitchers duel broke out. Jacob Hunt threw seven innings allowing only three hits. Braylon Flowers came on in the 8th and allowed three hits and one earned run in the 1-0 loss for the Tigers.

Macon County also played in the Alex Cassetty Classic in Gainesboro over the weekend. On Friday Apr 14 the Tigers faced Livingston Academy. The Wildcats led the whole way and won 8-1. Chase Keene started the game and allowed seven hits and seven earned runs. Braxton Lloyd came on in relief and threw two and two-thirds innings and allowed only two hits. Jordon Rogers and Hayden Dean each collected multiple hits.

On Sat Apr 15 the Tigers faced off against the Cannon County Lions. Down 0-2 in the bottom of the 7th inning Macon rallied for four runs to win 4-2. Matthew Wheeley started the game and threw five and a third innings allowing one hit and two earned runs with six walks and eleven strike-outs. Landon Connor got the save throwing one and two-thirds innings allowing no walks, hits, or runs. Tyler Gregory, Kaden Woodard, and Hayden Dean all had multiple hits.

This week the Tigers are scheduled to face Stone Memorial in Crossville on Apr 17th and at home on Apr 18th. They will close out the week in Carthage against the Smith County Owls on Friday Apr 21.
