By Jessie Williams

Multiple arrests were made, and drugs, guns and cash were seized, following the execution of  a search warrant on Clearview Lane.

According to Macon County Sheriff’s Department Detective Shane Gregory, a search warrant was executed at 50 Clearview Lane on June 19, 2020 at the home of Terry Wooten, age 59, and 30-year-old Max Wooten.

Upon executing the search warrant, officers found four individuals – later identified as Terry Wooten, 55-year-old Harold Perry, 26-year-old Chanda Perdue, and 54-year-old Francis Newberry – inside sitting around a coffee table. In the center of the table was an eyeglass case.

Upon investigating the case, officers discovered it contained approximately 24.6 grams of a crystalized substance believed to be methamphetamine. The substance appeared to be packaged for re-sale in eight separate baggies.

Mr. Perry was found to be carrying a revolver on his right hip, and there were two plastic bags next to him containing approximately half a gram of a crystallized substance believed to be methamphetamine.

Approximately 8 grams of a crystalized substance, believed to be methamphetamine, along with around $3,200 in cash, was found on Mr. Wooten’s person.

Approximately 7.2 grams of marijuana, a shotgun, and several more bags of what authorities believe to be meth, was found inside the residence.

In total, approximately 1.5 ounces of methamphetamine was seized during the search.

The two females – Perdue and Newberry – were found to have paraphernalia and other items on their person.

Terry Wooten was charged with simple possession, possession of a firearm during a violent felony, manufacture/delivery/possession of meth, manufacture of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $100,000.

Harold Perry was charged with possession of a firearm during a violent felony, manufacture/delivery/possession of meth, manufacture of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $96,000.

Chanda Perdue was charged with manufacture/delivery/possession of meth, manufacture of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond is set at $81,000.

Francis Newberry was charged with manufacture/delivery/possession of meth, manufacture of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond was set at $81,000.

Max Wooten, who wasn’t at the residence at the time the search warrant was executed, was arrested on July 11, 2020.

According to the report written by Macon County Sheriff Mark Gammons, he observed a motorcycle driving on Scottsville Road with a non-functioning tail light.

When the sheriff attempted to make a traffic stop, the individual accelerated, continuing to travel north.

During the pursuit, Sheriff Gammons states he witnessed the driver – later identified as Max Wooten – throwing a backpack into the roadway after they crossed over the Kentucky line.

Max crashed the motorcycle after losing control during a turn and was detained a short while later.

An inventory search of the motorcycle’s saddle bags revealed approximately 22 grams of a crystalized substance believed to be methamphetamine, a digital scale, multiple clear, plastic bags, two packs containing 10 Sudafed pills each, a clear, plastic bag containing approximately 2 grams of a green, leafy substance believed to be marijuana, and other drug paraphernalia.

The thrown backpack was located by authorities. It contained Liquid Fire, drain cleaner, plastic tubing, batteries, filters, salt, a plastic bottle and other components commonly used to manufacture methamphetamine.

Max was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, manufacture/delivery/possession of meth, evading arrest, violation of light law, speeding, improper display, simple possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving left of center, promotion of methamphetamine manufacture and unlawful collection/storage of chemicals. His bond was set at $41,200.

Sheriff Gammons would like to thank the Tennessee Highway Patrol for their assistance with the search warrant and Allen County, Kentucky, officers for their assistance following Max Wooten’s arrest.

“If anyone has further information regarding these individuals, or any illegal drug activity in the community, please contact my office,” the sheriff urges. “Callers can choose to remain anonymous.”
