Local Man Charged in Residential Theft

A Macon County man has been charged in the theft of approximately $25,000-worth of items from a residence in November 2020. 

 

Chronicle readers may recall the story published in our December 29, 2020 issue, that involved officers from the Macon County Sheriff’s Department searching a home on Witcher Hollow Rd., where they recovered two antique bedroom suites, an antique chair, a wooden porch glider, antique glassware, and other various housewares, furniture and tools. 

After further investigation, it was determined 37-year-old Ronnie Kendrick was the individual who stole the items and placed them in the Witcher Hollow Rd. home.

Warrants were obtained for his arrest, and he was detained on January 12, 2021 after his vehicle was discovered by authorities and a traffic stop was conducted. 

Macon County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Otto was deployed around the vehicle, and he indicated there was, or had been, some type of narcotic inside the vehicle. 

A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a white, powdery substance, which field tested positive for methamphetamine, along with a loaded syringe and digital scales.

Mr. Kendrick was charged with theft of property over $10,000, burglary, criminal trespass, vandalism, manufacture of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

He is currently incarcerated at the Macon County Jail and being held on a $30,000 bond. 

He is scheduled to appear in general sessions court on February 3, 2021. 

According to detectives, the investigation is ongoing and other leads are being pursued at this time.
